Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore has called on Persimmon to hold a consultation event on a new housing development in Silsden.
The land identified for development lies adjacent to Bolton Road and Brown Bank Lane. The plot was removed from green belt in 1998, and Bradford Council has identified the site for housing in the local plan.
Persimmon are currently conducting a consultation on the plans online. However, local MP Robbie Moore has voiced his concerns that this will exclude residents without access to the internet. Mr. Moore has met with Persimmon and pushed the company for an in-person consultation event to residents can be fully informed and have their say.
MP for Keighley and Ilkley, Robbie Moore said:
“I’ve met with the Regional Managing Director of Persimmon and discussed the issue of this new development.
My view is that Bradford Council should have never allocated this land for new housebuilding. There is already significant pressure on local infrastructure, such as roads, GP services and public transport.
I have been clear with Persimmon that either they or the agent must now hold a physical in-person consultation to set out their plans, so that all residents can be fully informed and have their say, and this should happen urgently.”
Persimmon’s current consultation ends on October 4th.
