On Behalf of Residents across the Bradford District

Dear Councillor Hinchcliffe,

We are writing to express our outrage at Bradford Council’s shameful decision to impose a 9.99% council tax hike on local residents across the Bradford District which will hit working families hard.

This punishing rise is nothing short of an insult to hardworking taxpayers and comes after years of financial mismanagement, reckless spending, and scandal after scandal under your leadership.

Your catastrophic failure to manage Children’s Services alone has cost local taxpayers nearly £150 million – more than the £130 million black hole you now say justifies this tax rise.

This is just one example of a litany of financial disasters. From the Bradford Live fiasco costing taxpayers £50million to millions wasted on vanity projects in the city centre, the story is always the same: Keighley, Ilkley, Craven, the Worth Valley and residents from our wider area are expected to pick up the tab for your Council’s incompetence.

Instead of making hardworking families suffer even more, you should be taking responsibility for the financial mess you have created and focusing on providing statutory services first.

I, alongside the many residents who have signed this letter, urge you to reverse this damaging decision immediately and stop the continued wastage of public funds on projects the Council shouldn’t be involved with.

We also urge your local councillors to vote against this tax increase when it is comes to the vote on 6th March.

Yours sincerely,

Robbie Moore MP
Member of Parliament for Keighley and Ilkley
