Local Mp Robbie Moore has joined crowdfunding calls for a new swimming destination in the beautiful surrounds of the Worth Valley.
Yorkshire Swim Works' spent have 2 years developing the project, which would see Thornton Moor Water Treatment Works transformed into naturally filtered swimming pools, a STEM learning centre, and a space for the local community to engage in outdoor activities.
Mr Moore has called the project a "prime opportunity for another fantastic cultural asset in our community:.
The group say they are exploring several funding strategies and trying to convince Keyland and Yorkshire Water to partner the project in a way that aligns with their Blueprint and Six Capitals, announcing a crowdfunding campaign for the project this week, aiming to raise £65,000.
Commenting, Robbie Moore MP said:
Yorkshire Swim Works' crowdfunding campaign to acquire the Thornton Moor Water Treatment Works is a prime opportunity to transform this land into a thriving community hub and an unparalleled outdoor swimming destination in West Yorkshire.
With plans for naturally filtered swimming pools, a STEM learning centre, and a space for the local community to engage in outdoor activities, this site would serve as a fantastic cultural asset, attracting tourists and swimmers alike and providing a boost to our local economy - all whilst being permanently owned by the community.
Attracting tourists and swimmers alike, this project would provide also boost to our local economy and there are also huge added benefits for health and wellbeing.
But with the land set to go to auction, Caroline Kindy and the fantastic team Yorkshire Swim Works need OUR help.
I urge everyone to join Yorkshire Swim Works' crowdfunding campaign and contribute towards this fantastic local project in the beautiful surrounds of the Worth Valley.
