Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore has paid tribute to Silsden Storm Rugby Club following the successful completion of their new club facilities and a "groundbreaking" merger with Keighley Cougars.
With a thriving set of junior teams and over 130 registered members, Silsden Storm had long been campaigning for improved facilities for the club , with Mr Moore visiting the Club last summer to meet with players, volunteers and parents, give his support for new facilities and discuss funding pathways for the new changing facilities.
Following extensive fundraising efforts from the Club and lobbying Bradford Council for grant funding, new facilities have now been successfully secured and completed.
Mr Moore paid tribute to the "amazing" fundraising efforts of the club -- and the MP has now given his backing to a groundbreaking new merger between the club and Keighley Cougars, who have launched Keighley Cougars Women’s and Girls’ Rugby League, a new team aimed at promoting women and girls in rugby.
The team is open to all ages, with no experience required. For more information, you can email [email protected] or follow the sign-up link here: https://buff.ly/3V1oHiQ
Commenting on the news, Robbie Moore MP said:
"A lack of facilities had been an ongoing issue for Silsden Storm, and without adequate facilities, the future of the club had been seriously put into question. It's therefore fantastic to see that after some amazing fundraising efforts from the club and working with them to lobby the Council for grant funding, new facilities have now been successfully secured and completed.
Now, looking to the future, things are getting even better for Silsden Storm following their groundbreaking merger with Keighley Cougars to form a women and girls team. I urge everyone of all ages and abilities to get involved by visiting https://buff.ly/3V1oHiQ."
