Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore has called on families, schools and people from across his constituency to come and visit Parliament.
As Parliament has now reopened following the end of COVID restrictions, and Tours are up and running again, Mr Moore has urged his constituents to make the most of their trips to the capital. He is particularly keen for schools to visit, and will be sending them invitations in due course, with funding available to help young people learn more about our democracy.
Tours tailored specially for schools can be arranged through Parliament’s dedicated education team, with schools that visit Parliament entitled to claim back 50% of their expenses, for a maximum claim of £800, to help make the trip more affordable.
Robbie Moore MP said: “I am delighted that, finally, Parliament has reopened its doors to visitors, and I cannot wait to welcome people from across Keighley and Ilkley down to Westminster. The Houses of Parliament is an incredible place and now that it is open, I would be delighted to welcome all constituents for a tour, or to sit in the public gallery and watch parliamentary debates.
I am especially keen for young people to come down to get to see first-hand how democracy works and how, when they are old enough, their vote will make a difference to their lives.
Having been elected in December 2019, it has been frustrating that COVID restrictions have made me unable to welcome schools and visitors for just about my entire time as an MP. With these restrictions ending, I cannot wait for this to change and for my constituents to come and see Parliament. All are very welcome.”
