Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore was invited to view the Christmas lights display at Beckfoot Nessfield Primary School in Keighley earlier this month.
The lights display is an annual tradition for the school and is overseen by site manager Samuel Wardley and his wife Bethany. The display is put up every year in support of local hospice Sue Ryder Manorlands.
The display also includes a gigantic advent calendar, however unlike other years, the couple were unable to do a big grand opening because of current Coronavirus restrictions. The lights are switched on every night from 5pm till 9pm and there are donation buckets on site. However, people are advised to donate via the Just Giving page to minimise contact.
Robbie said: “It’s community spirit like this which makes me proud to represent this wonderful and generous constituency. Manorlands plays such an important role in the lives of so many people locally. Samuel and Bethany give up so much of their time to support this project. We should all be proud to have people like this living in our community.
“I understand that the couple start planning for the display in February. After this miserable year, it is great to see some brightness and happiness brought into our lives through this display.”
