Repairs to a popular riverside footpath are finally soon to be complete after Keighley MP Robbie Moore urgently called on the Environment Agency to undertake repair work following the footpath being closed for months.
After a retaining wall to the River Worth was discovered to be unstable last year, the Agency advised closing the footpath that connects Lateral Bridge, by River Technology Park, to Pitt Street.
The wall's construction was initially scheduled to be finished and the path reopened by the end of October last year.
Following delays to the project, Mr Moore contacted the Environment Agency urgently requesting work to be carried out.
The project is due to be completed and the footpath reopened in the coming weeks.
Robbie Moore MP said:
”Many thanks to all who kindly contacted me about getting this footpath repaired and reopened, including the fantastic River Worth Friends group. I know this is in an important route for many, particularly the families and children who use the route to access Parkwood Primary.
As many may be aware, the banking of the River Worth and the adjoining wall had become unstable which lead to the temporary closure.
Following my correspondence with for the Environment Agency, their contractor AMCO were mobilised and have been on site for several weeks carrying out the necessary repairs.
I am pleased to say that they works are soon to be complete and the footpath will be reopened.”
