Local MP Robbie Moore has visited Back Beck in Addingham to speak with contractors at the site.
The meeting follows news that the Bradford Council contractor had mistakenly pumped concrete into a beck where trout breed, destroying both the pool and its wildlife.
Addingham Environment Group acted swiftly when they discovered the highways work being carried out on Monday, July 3, requesting urgent contact from Bradford Council and the Environment Agency.
Speaking after the visit, Robbie Moore MP said:
Many thanks to all in Addingham who kindly contacted me about what happened at Back Beck as a result of serious mistakes from by Bradford Council’s contractor where concrete was pumped into a local trout habitat, destroying the pool and its wildlife.
Yesterday morning, I visited the site and spoke with the contractor, who are now carrying out remediation works. The Environment Agency are also now heavily involved and closely monitoring the situation to ensure everything is reinstated correctly - and that no further pollution damage happens. Measures have also been put in place to ensure all negative impact is mitigated as best as it can be for any run off down stream.
I will continue to monitor this closely.
It was also good to speak with members of Addingham Parish Council who were also on site seeking reassurance that all remediation works will be carried correctly.
