Local MP Robbie Moore has celebrated the success of Ilkley Tennis Trophy.
The event is the biggest UK Tennis tournament in the North of UK, and remains one of the biggest combined Ladies (ITF) and Men’s’ (ATP) tournaments in the world outside the majors. Final Results included:
- A men's title win from Jason Kubler 🇦🇺 who beat Sebastian Ofner 🇦🇹 6-4, 6-4
- A women's title win from Mirjam Borklund 🇸🇪 who beat Emma Navarro 🇺🇸 6-4, 7-
Speaking after the event, Robbie Moore MP said:
A huge well done to Rik Smith and the whole team at Ilkley Lawn Tennis & Squash Club for organising yet again a fantastic Ilkley Trophy Tournament. It was a real pleasure to be invited along today to watch Saturday’s finals.
A huge amount of effort goes in to hosting the event with many volunteers and club members getting involved, and the positive impact the tournament has on Ilkley, our schools and the wider area is superb. Many local businesses, accommodation providers and hospitality also hugely benefit from the event.
The Ilkley Trophy is one of the highlights of the summer grass court season with world-class tennis in both the ATP Challenger and ITF women's events - and is the step for many that leads into Wimbledon.
Well done to all involved! And thank you again for all your efforts in making the whole tournament be such a great event.
