A grant agreement has been completed that will give firms in Keighley new industrial space and significant opportunities for employment.
In a project worth over £12 million, Modern Equipment & Foundry Engineering, the long-time owner of the site, has signed a £6.56 million grant agreement with the Keighley Towns Fund to develop up to 7 industrial units, totaling 3,810 sq m in space, on brownfield land at the corner of Dalton Lane in Keighley.
The financing is a component of The Towns Fund, a government-funded initiative to strengthen the economies of towns throughout the UK. The Levelling Up strategy of the government includes the scheme. Projects in Keighley have received £33 million thanks to the programme, which also includes the Development Investment Fund.
The project, which will be carried out by private developer Rock Structural PMC, will result in the addition of 80 jobs. The programme will offer renewable energy sources that will help achieve Net Zero goals and give occupants access to competitively priced energy sources.
Robbie Moore MP said:
"I'm pleased to see this Conservative government investing in Keighley to support local economic growth and create jobs in our area, with this funding just one part of the wider £33 million package of investment in Keighley.
The redevelopment of this industrial site will provide a boost to our town's manufacturing sector, revitalising underused brownfield land and creating over 80 jobs to make sure that Keighley is well-positioned to attract new businesses to our town, creating even more jobs and opportunities for our area."
