MP praises good work of The Salvation Army and other voluntary groups by getting stuck in and lending support.
The Keighley and Ilkley MP has been spending time out and about across the constituency delivering supplies to vulnerable residents and people self-isolating due to Coronavirus. Recently, Robbie spent time with The Salvation Army in Keighley who are running a food delivery scheme with the help of an army of volunteers from the local community. Residents who are in self-isolation and cannot rely on family members or friends to deliver their supplies are advised to register as vulnerable with Bradford Council. The council has also identified people they believe to be vulnerable, encouraging them to sign up to the scheme.
Mr Moore said: “Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, I have been inundated with correspondence from worried residents and concerned businesses about what help they need and what the future holds. My team and I have been working around the clock to ensure all urgent Coronavirus correspondence is responded to quickly. However, I also wanted to practically get stuck in and involved buy helping doing food shops and helping volunteer groups, like the Salvation Army deliver vital food supplies to those who need it in these difficult times.
“The Salvation Army, with help from other local volunteer groups, have been doing a tremendous job over the last few weeks coordinating volunteers to get supplies to those in self-isolation. I cannot thank them enough for their selfless dedication to the people of the Keighley and Ilkley constituency during this trying time.
"I also want to pay tribute to everyone across the district who has given up their time to volunteer during the Coronavirus outbreak. Everyone is doing a brilliant job, and I look forward to continuing practically playing my part over the weeks ahead.”
If you are vulnerable and in self-isolation and require food delivering from local volunteer groups, you can register with Bradford Council on 01274 431000.
