Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore has visited Long Lee Primary School to meet with Headteacher Susan Holdsworth and take questions from pupils at the school.
Mr Moore met with a group of pupils on the School Council for a question-and-answer session, speaking about his role as a Member of Parliament and outlining his local priorities for Keighley and the wider area.
The group were interested to hear about the MP’s experiences as an elected representative, having themselves been elected to the School Council by their fellow pupils.
The local MP also had high praise for the school, paying tribute to Mrs Holdsworth and the efforts of pupils and the team of staff in the face of ongoing challenges.
Mr Moore regularly visits school groups across his constituency to talk about his role as an MP alongside how democracy works at both a local and national level.
Commenting on the visit, Robbie Moore MP said:
“It was a privilege to visit Long Lee Primary School and spend time with pupils on the School Council to talk about my role as a Member of Parliament. There were some thought-provoking questions, and it was so great to see such enthusiasm about the local area from the group. Their eagerness to get involved and help others by representing their fellow pupils on the School Council is truly commendable.
Long Lee Primary has an excellent learning environment and a fantastic, hard-working teaching team led by Mrs Holdsworth. It was a real privilege to visit, engage and talk with our young people about what matters to them – one of the best parts of the job!”
