Local MP Robbie Moore has visited Beckfoot Oakbank School to meet with Headteacher Liz Hart and take questions from pupils at the school.
Speaking to a group of sixth formers during a question-and-answer session, Mr Moore spoke about his about his role as a Member of Parliament, his priorities for Keighley and the wider area, and the importance of civic engagement.
The Keighley and Ilkley MP recieved an updated from the school on its continuing improvement efforts, paying tribute to Mrs Hart and the efforts of students and the team of staff.
In a recent monitoring visit, Ofsted highlighted significant progress at Oakbank in the implementation of its school improvement plans, praising the high-quality training on the curriculum and recognising the support for pupils with special education needs and/or disabilities.
Commenting on the visit, Robbie Moore MP said:
“Headteacher Mrs Hart and her fantastic team of staff have worked hard to implement Beckfoot Oakbank's school improvement plans and it was encouraging to see that Ofsted have recognised the progress that has been made.
It was also a pleasure to meet with a group of sixth formers for a Q&A session, where we talked about my role as an MP and discussed important local issues in Keighley and the wider area.
I will continue to work with and support students and staff at Oakbank in any way I can.”
