Keighley and Ilkley's Member of Parliament, Robbie Moore, has slammed Bradford Council for approving another 138 houses in Silsden.
The plans for the new home estate off of Bolton Road, which Persimmon Homes applied to build, were presented to Bradford Council for approval on Thursday.
Approximately 800 people opposed the expansion plan, including Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore.
Despite huge local opposition, planning officials have recommended that the development be granted.
Reacting to the news, Mr Moore said:
"Once again, Bradford Council have decided to run roughshod over local voices - and this is Labour's pledge to “bulldoze” through local opposition in action.
Ever since this planning application was first lodged with Bradford Council back in early 2022, I have been staunchly against it and submitted a formal planning objection to the scheme in April 2022. Since then I have raised my concerns directly with Bradford Council on multiple occasions on the grounds that Silsden simply cannot cope with more housing with its current infrastructure.
We have been inundated by new developments over recent years - and to make matters worse, there are still further houses being proposed which Bradford Council are still considering giving the green light. Now more than ever do we need to leave Bradford Council, form our own local authority which puts local voices first and finally take back our town from those who do not have our best interests at heart."
