Local MP Robbie Moore has outlined his opposition to new proposals which would see another 120 houses built on land off Belton Road in Silsden.
The plans, put forward by Countryside Homes, were initially pulled last year following over 237 local objections and opposition from Bradford Council.
Residents can submit their objections by visiting: https://www.countrysidepartnerships.com/.../consultation...
Outlining his opposition on social media, Robbie Moore MP said:
Silsden is being completely inundated with new housing and our infrastructure cannot cope - I will NOT be supporting these proposals and will be writing to the developer to once again to outline my opposition.
I’m also calling on the developer to host a FULL public meeting on these proposals - so they can fully understand the strong feeling on this issue.
Countryside haven’t submitted a planning application yet - but they will soon. So please do submit your comments now via their consultation link above and email the developer at [email protected].
Remember, these plans were originally pulled by Countryside Homes in 2022 following over 237 local objections - Highways officers at Bradford Council also warned that they would not support the development after arguing that future residents would be too reliant on cars - and I once again urge the Council to refuse these plans when they are put forward.
On a wider level, Silsden has experienced huge growth recently and the town has reached a point where it cannot take anymore.
Silsden has already seen:
* 138 houses just off Bolton Road recently approved by Bradford Council (Persimmon Homes)
* 72 houses behind Aireville Crescent with access off Middleway (Newett Homes)
* 44 houses by The Willows on Hainsworth Road (Skipton Properties)
* 77 houses off Bolton Road (Skipton Properties)
* 58 houses opposite Aldi (Lindum)
* Barratt development currently ongoing just off Belton Road
* Harron Homes development at The Banks
The bottom line is that these new proposals will undoubtedly increase the strain on local services - anyone who has driven in Silsden knows how big an issue congestion is and the current road infrastructure cannot handle an even greater number of vehicles in the town.
