Ilkley's Member of Parliament Robbie Moore has given his backing to Ilkley Business Improvement District, calling Ilkley BID's new Business Plan for 2024-2029 an "exciting new vision" for the town.
The plan was presented to business owners and leaders last week and set out over £700,000 of investment to support the town centre over the five-year period.
Under current legislation, Business Improvement Districts can only operate for a maximum of five years before being required to retest business support. Ilkley BID’s first term, which began in 2019, closes at the end of May 2024.
More than 300 businesses and organisations will be asked to support the BID by voting “Yes” for a second term in the postal ballot which is being managed by UK Engage and runs from February 22 to March 21, with the result announced the following day.
Commenting on the BID, Robbie Moore MP said:
"Ilkley BID have been fantastic for our town and have already made a such positive impact under the management of Helen Rhodes and team. Whether that’s improving our local business landscape, boosting footfall in our town centre or promoting our town nationally, Ilkley BID have served as model of how other Business Improvement Districts can be successful across the region. Ilkley BID have my full support as they put forward their exciting new vision for Ilkley."
