Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore has welcomed that more than one million train tickets across the United Kingdom will have their prices slashed by up to 50%.
This is the first nationwide rail sale in history. Tickets went on sale on the 19th April 2022 for journeys taking place between 25 April to 27 May, offering passengers significant savings on journeys in and across the United Kingdom.
Routes involved in the scheme include tickets from Leeds to York, meaning people in Keighley and Ilkley will only pay £5.60 for this ticket. With spring now upon us, the scheme will also make it cheaper for people to travel to Keighley and Ilkley by train, and enjoy the many tourist offerings the constituency has to offer and providing support to local businesses.
Robbie Moore MP said: “It is excellent news that the Government has launched this first-of-its-kind Great British Rail Sale, to help families save up to 50 per cent on their ticket prices for trips across the country.
This is a valuable opportunity for people across Keighley and Ilkley and helps to give more people a chance to catch up with friends and family or take a well-deserved break.
What is really exciting about this is the impact it can have on local businesses. By enabling cheaper rail travel, we can encourage more people to visit Keighley and Ilkley and sample our fantastic tourist offerings, from Ilkley Moor to The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, and everything in between.”
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: “For the first time ever, operators across the rail industry are coming together to help passengers facing rising costs of living by offering up to 50% off more than a million tickets on journeys across Britain.
There’s no better time to visit friends, family or just explore our great country, so book your tickets today!”
