Two teenagers have been charged with arson after a fire at a mill which appeared in the TV show Peaky Blinders.
The blaze destroyed much of the historic Dalton Mills complex in Keighley, West Yorkshire, in March 2022.
Police said two 17-year-old boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged and were due to appear at Bradford Magistrates' Court on 29 April.
Three other youths aged 17, 17 and 18, who were arrested at the time, have been released without charge.
Welcoming the charges, local MP Robbie Moore said:
I welcome this week’s guilty verdict for the the two arsonists found responsible for the devastating fire at Dalton Mills in March 2022 - this was completely shocking behaviour.
Dalton Mills has put Keighley on the map for years and the reckless actions of these two individuals led to the devastation of one of our town’s crowning jewels, put a huge strain on West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service and has continued to have a lasting effect on local businesses in the area.
I’d like to once again pay tribute to the fire crews on the day who worked unbelievably hard to stop this fire and protect the buildings which surround the mills - as well as police, ambulance and Council teams who have worked tirelessly to support those impacted.
It is essential that the sentencing does not let these two individuals off the hook for their actions.
