Keighley MP Robbie Moore has again raised the issue of fireworks misuse within Keighley and the wider area in the House of Commons ahead of Bonfire night this Saturday.
Mr Moore said that his constituents were “plagued by fireworks” being let off “throughout the calendar year at all hours, even into the early morning” and urged the governent for an urgent debate on the issue, saying he will continue to campaign for stronger regulations on the sale and misuse of fireworks.
Mr Moore’s comments come after the MP launched a town-wide survey on the issue last year and slammed “mindless hooligans” for attacking local Firemen with fireworks last November.
Robbie Moore MP said: Whilst fireworks are great to be seen at public events, such as on Bonfire Night, the unfortunate reality is my constituents are still being plagued by fireworks misuse, which are being let off at all hours of the night, throughout the year by mindless individuals.
That’s why today, I called for an urgent debate on this issue, and it’s why last year I launched my fireworks misuse survey across Keighley & Ilkley, giving residents a chance to share their views on the issue.
