Local MP Robbie Moore has met with residents in Long Lee to discuss the much-needed upgrades to the children’s play facilities in Royd House Park.
The play area has served as both a community gathering spot and a hotspot for anti-social behaviour, causing significant disturbances to nearby residents.
During the meeting, residents voiced their frustration that they had not been consulted at any stage during the recent works. Many community members have shared their annoyance at feeling sidelined by Bradford Council, particularly regarding their concerns that the upgrades do not include any provisions for older children.

"It was good to meet with residents in Long Lee to discuss the recent upgrades to the children’s play facilities in Royd House Park. While I was pleased to see that refurbishments were going ahead, it is deeply frustrating to hear that local residents were not at any stage consulted during the recent works. Many residents have expressed annoyance that their suggestions have been repeatedly ignored by Bradford Council – particularly their concern that the upgrades do not include any provisions for older children. Children’s play areas have a huge positive impact on their health and wellbeing, and it is vital that adequate facilities are provided to children of all ages. However, the recent upgrades have understandably heightened residents’ concerns that the park will continue to be a haven for anti-social behaviour."
