Ilkley MP Robbie Moore has visited the Ilkley and District Good Neighbours charity group to hold a surgery and a Q&A with its members.
The surgery was an opportunity for the group to meet with Mr Moore and raise any issues or difficulties they are facing, and was also a chance for Mr Moore to outline his priorities for the area.
The event started with a speech from Mr Moore, followed by the Q&A session. Questions asked followed several themes, including Mr Moore’s campaign to rebuild Airedale Hospital, local bus services, concerns around local housing developments on the green belt, and Mr Moore’s recent success in securing funding for Ilkley Grammar School.
Ilkley & District Good Neighbours were established in the 1970s, and carry out charity work to improve the wellbeing of the most vulnerable members of Ilkley and the wider community. The group run a number of schemes for members, including social support schemes like its befriending programme, friendship groups, and social trips, which included a trip to the Yorkshire Dales last year.
Speaking after his visit, Robbie Moore MP said:
“I would like to wholeheartedly thank Hannah Walton and the team at Ilkley and District Good Neighbours for inviting me to their social group last week. It really was a pleasure to be there, where I met the absolutely brilliant team of volunteers running the group and spoke to Ilkley Good Neighbours’ fantastic members.
Ilkley Good Neighbours are an outstanding charity organisation and continue to go above and beyond for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
