Keighley & Ilkley’s MP Robbie Moore has championed British food and farming on Back British Farming Day in Parliament, recognising the vital role farmers from across our area play.
Working with the National Farmers Union (NFU) Mr Moore helped raise the profile of our food and farming industry which provides jobs for almost 4 million people across the UK and is worth more than £120 billion to the national economy.
Speaking after the event, Mr Moore, who is a member of the Environment Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) committee said:
“I am very proud to represent farmers from across our area, many of whom produce the best lamb and beef that our country has to offer, and it was great to show my recognition for their work in Parliament by championing them in Back British Farming Day.
Farmers in our area contribute to our local economy, provide jobs, produce high-quality food all whilst maintaining the beautiful Yorkshire countryside we all know and love.
Recent developments in the sector have shown us just how important it is to have a resilient farming and agricultural sector. Food security is so important and it is essential that the industry get the recognition they rightly deserve."
