Keighley MP Robbie Moore has praised the “passion and spirit” of local apprentices this week after he visited Keighley manufacturing business A1 roper, celebrating the manufacturing industry as part of the “heart and soul” of Keighley.
Founded over 90 years ago in 1921, A1 Roper play a leading role in the design and engineering of equipment for foundries, specialising in foundry ladles. They have also diversified to produce other metal based equipment for the utility sector and food industries such as for the dairy sector, amongst many others.
Speaking after the visit, Robbie Moore MP said: It was brilliant to visit A1 Roper Ltd this week, one of our mighty manufacturing businesses based in the heart of Keighley. They are a truly inspiring business, with a great team of people, an incredible work ethic and a real desire to grow and expand.
It was a real pleasure to have a look around and meet their team, but also to take time to discuss current challenges. Whilst on my visit, it was awesome to meet Tom, who has not long started his apprenticeship with A1 Roper. Tom told me about his experiences and the great opportunities to learn which A1 Roper have provided him. Apprenticeships are a brilliant way to get hands-on experience in the workplace whilst also learning on the job and getting paid. At A1 Roper, I saw first-hand how apprentices bring such passion and spirit to our local businesses.
Manufacturers, such as the Team at A1 Roper form the heart and soul of our town. The manufacturing industry plays a vital role in our local economy by driving innovation, job creation, and growth - and I will back the sector to the hilt.
