Local MP Robbie Moore has praised organisers and volunteers at The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for organising a "remarkable" black tie dinner to commemorate the 100th birthday of the iconic Flying Scotsman locomotive.
Set at the Exhibition Hall in the beautiful country station in Oxenhope, guests had the opportunity to take photos up close with the Flying Scotsman, enjoyed a three-course dinner and heard speeches from a range of after-dinner guests, who gave an insight into the Flying Scotsman's history, engineering and legacy.
Robbie Moore MP said:
“I would like to thank organisers and volunteers for putting on a remarkable black tie centenary dinner in Oxenhope to commemorate the Flying Scotsman's 100th birthday and it is fantastic that The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway will be hosting this historic locomotive throughout the month of May.
The event was a true celebration of our rich railway heritage and the enduring legacy of this magnificent locomotive, and The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway continue to hold a special place as one of our most prominent tourist attractions, making a significant contribution to our local economy.
The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is run by an exceptional team of dedicated volunteers who bring their passion and enthusiasm to every aspect of their work and I can’t thank them enough for their work to put Keighley on the map.
