Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore has branded reports of speeding across Keighley and Ilkley “disgraceful” after a number of residents complained about speeding on Fell Lane – a hotspot for unlawful driving.
The Keighley and Ilkley MP has contacted Bradford Council and West Yorkshire Police for comment, stating that reports of speeding from residents were “constant” and “disgraceful”. He also noted that “the issue of speeding in Keighley is unfortunately not limited to Fell Lane”.
Following these reports, Robbie Moore MP spoke on the issue of speeding in Parliament, and met directly with Home Office Ministers to call for tougher sanctions on those caught speeding.
Robbie Moore MP said: Tougher actions are needed against the perpetrators of speeding in Keighley, who have absolutely no respect for our town or the wider community. This must mean stronger enforcement rules to support the police when they catch people driving recklessly, which is why I recently expressed support for measures to give the police powers to immediately remove the license of anyone caught driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol until their trial.
